Packers Waive Samp; Sign Defensive Tackle

The Green Bay Packers announced that they had released Green Bay native Chris Samp and signed defensive tackle Quintene (pronounced QUIN-ten) Newhouse.

Newhouse played at Northwestern (La.) State--same as Craig Nall. I guess it's just who you know in this business.

In all seriousness, the 6-1, 313 pound Newhouse played in 42 games registering 155 tackles (67 solo), 29 stops for loss, 7 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
